Ghostlight's Mission

The purpose of Ghostlight is to support student theater on campus, and to foster a welcoming community around student theater. Ghostlight has a focus specifically on supporting student directors and actors interested in producing and performing theater that Amherst College students would otherwise miss, such as student-written plays, small, intensive blackbox-style shows, and theater in translation. Ghostlight is a way for those passionate about putting on largely independent theater projects to get support from an established RSO, and to find an organization from which to pull talent and build community around theater.

Theater

Ghostlight's primary purpose is to create great theater. Our group aims to produce and perform theatrical productions of the highest caliber throughout the academic year. Our shows can come from any time period, location, and cover any topic. They are all united by one aspect, however: a commitment to excellence.

Community

Ghostlight's second main objective is to build a warm, welcoming, diverse, and most of all, fun community around theater at Amherst. We believe that the best theater is done when all involved can laugh together offstage, and we aim to foster a club that supports all its members, and knows how to have a great time!
